YODC Six Pallets Working Group

The Six Pallets Working Group is a purpose-driven, work-style programme designed for people living with younger onset dementia. It creates opportunities for meaningful contribution through practical, hands-on tasks in real-world environments.

Rather than focusing on limitations, the programme is built around ability.

Tasks are thoughtfully structured and broken down into achievable components, enabling participants to actively contribute as part of a team. This approach supports confidence, dignity, and a strong sense of purpose.

While activities may vary depending on the setting — from sorting, packing, preparing, or assembling — the underlying model remains the same: teamwork, shared responsibility, and the satisfaction of completing a job together. The focus is not on productivity alone, but on participation, connection, and pride in contribution.

Supported by facilitators and volunteers, the working group operates at a pace that suits participants, with flexibility for breaks, conversation, and social connection. The result is an environment that feels less like a programme and more like a workplace — where people are valued for what they can do.

At its heart, the Six Pallets Working Group is about proving that purpose still matters.
